3-10-2017

Ok, it is on! We are on mission to honor Coach Bob Lucas, and his teams.
Date:3/25/2017
Time:2:00pm-?
Location: Hooleys at Grossmont Center, La Mesa CA

To all Helix varsity baseball players who played in 70's, 80's, and 90's you are invited. Charles A Phillips and John Alvarez have made contact with some former players, and many have committed to attending this event for Coach.

Please pass the word, looking forward to seeing you all there. If you have any questions, or would like more information, you can contact Charlie, John or myself.
"Leave them standing"
-Bob Lucas

This information was posted on Facebook. I guess they didn’t think to include the ‘60’s teams because Coach White was the MAN. I do know that Coach Lucas was very much a part of our high school years. And, I do know that he remembers us. So…go if you’re interested!

10th Annual
HIGHLANDER OPEN
2017 Golf Tournament

The Helix High Foundation, a 501(c) 3 Non-Profit organization in partnership
with the Highlander Open Golf Tournament Organizing Committee, is hosting its annual golf tournament fundraiser on Saturday, May 13, 2017.  Proceeds from this event will help to provide financial assistance for graduating students of Helix Charter High School.  Since our tournament inception, over $39,000 has been raised for student scholarships.

Our goal is to increase the amount of scholarship money that we can provide for students.  With your help, we can continue to assist students with their hopes of obtaining a college education by providing them much needed financial support.  Your donation and the forwarding of our event information to your network contacts are greatly appreciated.

Friday October 28th

Attention all alumni football players! Friday October 28th is the biggest game this year. Undefeated Helix plays undefeated Grossmont at Helix at 7:00pm.

Tell the ticket agent that you're an alumni football player and receive a reduced admission price. Bring a chair and join coaches Arnaiz, Ash, and me in the West end-zone to watch the game.

Helix Campus

Projects
Refresh the Gym Foyer

If you’ve had an opportunity to attend an event in the gym, you’ve seen the fantastic graphics on the walls.  Unfortunately, the entrance…the foyer…has been left in the dark ages!  Contractors, Roger Ballantyne and Mike Mallow…members of the class of 1967, have taken a look and given us a plan to freshen it up.

  • Replace ceiling panels
  • Paint walls green and gray matching colors used in graphics
  • Paint out doors
  • Replace glass in trophy cabinets
  • Replace ceiling lights
  • Replace cabinet lighting
  • Add chair rail

May, 2016

We are pleased to announce that we now have a storage area on campus!  We are looking for freestanding shelving and metal cabinets to safely hold memorabilia, supplies, trophies not on display, etc.  Please contact us through the website if you have pieces of Helix history that you would like to add to our collection.  We are planning to create an inventory list.  Items will be placed on displayed occasionally on campus, and available for use at reunions.  Items might include: letterman’s jackets, cheer uniforms, spirit pins and ribbons, copies of the Fling, trophies (many have disappeared from campus), pictures, ASB cards, etc.

Tartans!  If you’re clearing out closets and decide to let your Tartans go, please consider donating them to the Alumni Association.  There are many Highlanders who, for one reason or another, have lost their Tartans and would love to replace them.  Years available with be listed on the website.  A suggested donation will be collected.  If you are looking for a particular year, let us know.  We will notify you when we can fill your request.  Contact us
